Deep Tissue Massage
At The Healing Path, deep tissue massage stems from our Swedish massage, but with varied techniques and heavier pressure. It targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, known as fascia. Usually these massages are more focused on problem areas where you might have muscle tension or experience chronic pain. Deep tissue massage can help with recovery from injuries such as whiplash, provide relief from conditions like fibromyalgia, and even improve your posture. It helps in recovering from the repetitive stresses we put upon ourselves like lifting, or sitting at a desk every day.
Many people think that deep tissue massage is supposed to hurt, but it shouldn't cause you to be uncomfortable enough to tense up. Although the massage shouldn't be painful, you may experience muscle soreness after your massage. This is normal and shouldn't last more than a couple of days. Please tell your massage therapist if you experience pain at any time during a massage or if you want the pressure to be adjusted. Every body is different.
